Sandilands

Sandilands was named after Robert Hamilton Sandilands who came from Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, Scotland and was a pioneering farmer in the district. He collected his mail from Maitland and was issued with a private bag. This resulted in his neighbours asking for their mail to be collected in that bag too. Mr Sandilands sorted the mail at his home and was eventually appointed Post Master. Sandlilands post office is now closed.
